I have drawn this from a reference picture got from the Net. Darjeeling is one of my favorite place at any time of the year. People do say that Darjeeling has lost its charm, it has become congested, dirty .. more of a market than tourist place. may be ... doesn't matter to me. The way from siliguri to 'queen of hills' itself create a spell on me. I just love to walk along the roads without a specific destination looking at the distant hills in between the clouds. Just fascinating.

I got the reference picture from the net, from a site of photographs of Incredible India . I dont know the photographer but I  sincerely thank him for this picture which instantly inspire me to draw.

Looking at the sky

This I have drawn few weeks back from a reference photo  I got in the net. Decided to use payne's gray to draw trees in dry brush technique .

I am still not comfortable handling actual watercolor paper mainly overdoing the foliage and trees. Still uploading to keep a track of my improvement.

Simplicity-III

I am trying these simple subjects on watercolor paper. Here I have given two wash as well as masking fluid to capture the light. but still i am not happy, something is missing.(sold)

Still I am not comfortable with watercolor paper compared to handmade paper. I am using a particular brand Brustro, which is good i feel. But i must confess  either i am overdoing my painting or I am slower than the required speed . But painting on this kind of paper seems much brighter so i have decided to carry on , doesn't matter how it come out.

Simplicity

I wanted to upload this simple painting of foliage to show how a small pinch of table salt can do wonder in watercolor.I hope you my friends like it.

When I first started watercolor few months back after a long gap, i was desperate to find some resource online to learn and start afresh. Fortunately I came across an eBook " The landscape painter's essential hand book" by Joe Francis Dowden.It is a outstanding book to learn and get inspired.I am grateful to Mr Joe Francis Dowden.The above two painting are done by me from that book.In both the picture I have used masking fluid for the first time.In the first painting the golden corn are masked before giving the second wash and the second painting the white flowers are masked before doing the foliage.

Reflection

Having a successful feel of reflection is satisfactory. This is the pic  where i first use Indigo to paint water and let it flow according to its wish on the wet area..

watercolor and life.

 

Hooker's green always attract me. This i tried few days back as a single color painting.The lonely  structure during an early evening capture my eyes but later i found its not lonely some trees are standing with it like valuable friends looking after it from a distance.

I learned watercolor for 2 years during my 10th standard from Mr Tulsi Das.Then I had to quit it as academics is the only investment that a middle class family from India can think of. Then again after 18 years I started it, may be 6 months back when my mom presented me with a small box of watercolor , two brushes and two handmade papers. may be she knew i have the love of it still inside me . Initially I was afraid , skeptical but thanks to the invent of this virtual world as I came across so much of resources to learn from and works of Milind Mulick , John Salminen, Fabio Cembranelli and many more inspired me to give it a try. I am thankful to them. This picture is a copy of a work of Fabio Cembranelli. To me he is the best floral painter in watercolor. For me Watercolor is a lifelong learning process and I consider them as my virtual Gurus...

Feel the wind

Have you ever slept on the grass looking towards the sky with your friends? Enjoyed the feel of serenity and dreamed to touch the sky one day ? I bet u have done it and do it again if you get the chance. Starting watercolor after 18 years of gap was never a easy task but u know as Oscar Wilde said "I can resist everything except temptation."

Once someone told me " happiness is a concept, a relative thing so believe in joy.. because u can feel it". I believe that. I don't think I am an artist but I love watercolor coz it gives me joy.So I want to share it, share my journey of watercolor... share my moments of joy.
